Going on a September holiday? Here are some last minute tips from Instagram's most stylish

The first day of September might be upon us, and with it a back-to-school attitude comprising thoughts of how you're going to revamp your workwear for the new season and when you can squeeze in that trip to Muji, but for some lucky people the best (and by the best, we mean a holiday somewhere gorgeous and sunny) is yet to come.

Heading somewhere hot in September? Here is a handful of helpful tips from three jet-setters who really know their way around a suitcase...

A mini bag is an excellent travel companion

While they might not be the most practical of accessories for everyday life, a mini bag can be a useful holiday companion. ''My tiny Gucci Dionysis bag has become my favourite cross-body airport bag for keeping all the essentials close at hand,'' says blogger Lucy Williams.

And TV host and blogger Louise Roe agrees: ''my mini bag from Simon Miller barely fits anything in it - but I love it,'' she says of the item she's used the most this summer.

If you're looking for a quick and easy way to spruce up your holiday basics that's cohesive with taking a single suitcase on holiday, look no further than some jazzy jewellery. ''My Katerina Makriyianni wooly fan earrings make me so happy when I wear them,'' says Williams.

Simple needn't mean boring. Often a silk blouse, a button-down skirt, or a slip dress is the most effective piece you can resort to on holiday. ''I love this white linen crop-top by Lisa Marie Fernandez - there's something so easy and right about a white blouse in summer,'' says Alyssa Coscarelli, Fashion Market Editor of Refinery29, who describes her own holiday style as ''easy, light and vintage-inspired.''

''I wear lots of linen, denim and silk in the form of slip dresses, oversized shirts and wrap dresses,'' says Williams, ''anything that's easy to throw on and off with zero fuss.''

Good quality swimwear is a worthy investment

With a plethora of pricey, albeit beautiful, holiday brands flooding the market this summer, it's difficult to know what's worth the splurge. But swimwear, particularly if you're looking for pieces that are immaculately cut, offer the desired amount of support, and that will last more than one season, is a good place to start.

''I'm obsessed with Eres swimwear - the fabric is like nothing else,'' says Williams. ''My red swimsuit feels like just the right amount of Baywatch.''

Dress for the location

While we all have holiday staples that we rely on, a quick scour of the internet ahead of a trip can be invaluable in determining which of these pieces are best suited to your next stop. ''Scoping out location tags on Instagram can help you get a feel for the overall vibe of a place,'' advises Coscarelli.

''If I'm heading somewhere barefoot and tropical, I'd probably be more inclined to go for crochet bikinis and neutral colours, whereas if I'm in Ibiza or Italy, for example, I might go a little bolder with my colours and take more swimsuits that look great with shorts pulled on over them,'' says Williams.
